Letter: Jen Wilson obituary

Jen Wilson composed and co-arranged Twelve Poems, reimagining works by Dylan Thomas for a small jazz ensemble with vocals. It attracts on rhythms within the poetry, Welsh dance tunes, variations of Bach and Mozart, and pure sounds. Although not well-known – and considerably eclipsed by Stan Tracey’s Jazz Suite Impressed By Dylan Thomas’s Underneath Milk Wooden, after the celebrated radio play – it’s a outstanding and authentic piece.

In 2015, after listening to an excerpt on the radio, I purchased a duplicate, and Jen despatched a word with the CD: “I hope you get pleasure from listening as a lot as we did making it.” I nonetheless get pleasure from it.
