My husband, Richard Leeson, who has died aged 90, was a gifted linguist, instructor and educational chief who turned deputy director of Ealing School of Increased Training, in west London.

Dick’s first managerial position was as head of the varsity of liberal arts at Ealing School of Expertise (1971-75).
