In 2008 Ernest Corridor revealed an enchanting autobiography, Easy methods to Be a Failure and Succeed. The guide was put collectively by the late Graham Barker, who had produced quite a lot of texts for Ernest.

Ernest Corridor and I have been Involved for a number of years after we found that we had each attended a recital in 1945 by Eileen Joyce, on the Victoria corridor, now theatre, in Halifax. I had written and lectured extensively on the pianist, and Ernest invited me to present a chat at Dean Clough Mills, the magnificent arts centre that he had created.

He despatched me a part of his recording of the entire works of Chopin, a tremendous feat completed by few skilled pianists, asking me for feedback. Taken together with his recordings of the piano music of Bartók and the Busoni Piano Concerto I can’t consider the same achievement, completed because it have been on the facet – really beginner within the sense of being accomplished with love.
